Personally I've had 9 at most. If we can only save one person at a time. More people mean more problem. I had eight when one dude just wandered in and joined. 9 is a pretty sweet number to have, not gonna lie. Also it seems that the longer you go into the game, the less the chance of finding survivors.

I've experienced this to a degree - it works fine on the early materials but anything requiring 'strong support' won't build. It makes building with stairs in concrete, brick and carbon buildings impossible as you have to substitute the ceiling with a much weaker one - plus it looks terrible.
