In 1967, the late Joseph P. Christian, Jr. became the fourth generation of the Strider Family to become part of the business. "Joey" as he was referred to by his friends and acquaintances, took great pride in keeping one of the oldest funeral homes in the Eastern part of the country up-to-date and modern.
Melvin T. Strider died on May 9, 1962 and in his will he left his share of the Strider Company to his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph P. Christian and to E. Guy Davis. Mr. Guy Davis had been working for the company for about 37 years at the time.
