The immobilizer is doing it's job - it doesn't recognize the response it got from that key's RFID chip, so it says "no start for you". The battery in the key has nothing to do with the RFID chip in the key; that chip gets it's power wirelessly from the immobilizer's antenna.

Found out what the issue was for the civic. It was in-fact the not the key not the immobilizer but the pcm. The car shot a code p0606 which means there is internal damage to the ecu which needs to acknowledge the computer when the key is inserted along through the immobilizer.Check the battery cables and see if they are tight and clean. Then check the immobilizer receiver and see if there is any loose wires or broken wires around it. The immobilizer receiver could have went out and is causing the computer to lock out the ignition circuits to prevent the vehicle from starting.
