DayZ mod is a mod for Arma 2 that was released in 2012. DayZ standalone is a stanalone version of DayZ which is currently in alpha state. Standalone is newer and is on official game sold by BI. DayZ mod had various spin-off mods such as Epoch, DayZero, Overwatch, and many more.Firstly, the improvised suppressor will not work on shotguns, the blaze, magnum, AKS or the repeater. Secondly, when you fire the suppressor at prison island, your friend is facing away from you. This is a common sound bug where if the shot is fired away from you, you will not hear it so that test is inconclusive.Steep learning curve but worth it. To me the standalone is better than the mod in a lot of aspects. The lack of any kind of updates to improve pvp is the only thing that's holding the standalone back from overtaking the mod. If you are near Tulga, on Skalitsky Island or near Kamyshovo, north-west is probabaly your best bet. Heading further along the coast brings you to the south coast, and heading inland is more of a northern direction. So that means from Elektro, Prigorki, Cherno, Balota, Komarovo and Kamenka head north. But getting lost is fun too.
The Ghillie is fun and all, but I don't trust other people's rendering quality to make it very useful right now. 0.61 should be a much better place for Ghillies, or possibly with the hotfix they're working on in Experimental right now. This has happened twice so far. What I'm asking for is a torrent or FTP of the current (or close to it) DayZ alpha build. My plan is to download that and place it in the appropriate Steam folder and have Steam verify the game files. There are some things that are just limited about the core engine.
