If you look at your exhaust manifold from the top, you should see a plug screwed into the threaded hole where the passage pipe would screw into on an EGR-equipped engine. I would go ahead and replace the thermostat, erase the codes and test drive, then recheck for codes. Ignore the knock sensor code for the time being.
I checked the codes, using the accelerator method, and got a 0302 and 0328. Misfire on Cyl. 2 and Knock Sensor. The truck seems to idle smooth, but I notice its around 1100 rpm's. Seems kinda high for a 6 cylinder. I cant get the truck to go over 40 Mph, and the tranny seems to be shifting a little late, around 3500 rpms.SOURCE: 2002 Nissan Frontier timing belt.
