If you have Verizon set-top-boxes, a Verizon router is required. It takes a very network savvy person to use a non-Verizon router with their boxes, and even then not all set-top-box features may work. In this situation, you can disable the WiFi on the Verizon router and then plug in your own firewall/router device to the Verizon's LAN ports.

To use both, plug your personal router's WAN port into the Fios routers LAN port and it will work. The only issue is that you will have double NAT with that scenario. Other option is to put your personal router into AP mode and connect it via the LAN port to the Fios LAN port. 2. Reply.
