Stripers is telling you that the SP20 wad is TYPICALLY used for 1 ounce loads in Remington cases with MOST powders. Lymans is telling you that there might be a particular powder and hull combo where some of those other wads MIGHT work for 1 ounce. I will be developing a load using longshot in 2 3/4 Rem hulls and sp20 petals removed and win aa once fired hulls sp20 wads with petals intact will post another thead with my findings.

1645 posts · Joined 2015. #2 · Dec 16, 2021 (Edited) There is no replacement wad. The Remington SP20 was the last 1 ounce wad for 20 gauge tapered hulls, and they are scarce also. There's a single 1 ounce load in Remington hulls using AA20 wad and HS-6 in Lyman 5th Edition Handbook.

Without powder the AAF1 diffidently catches on the base wad lip of the AA20-HS hulls. Sense I have a one ounce load using the Rem SP20 wad I am set and only out $4. Normally for target and most of my bird hunting with the 20 gauge I load STS hulls with Orange Dusters. Unique is a very good powder for the 16 ga. reloader. I have loads W/ 15 gr. to 19 gr. using 7/8 oz to 1 1/8 oz of shot. PB is also a good powder for low pressure, low velocity 16 ga. loading with light shot packages.
