Key word is all they've been doing is making it run less, indicating that it running is a problem.Only way to disable VCM is through Ktuner or a VCM Delete device. I personally recommend S-VCM, works really great and is much cheaper than a Ktuner. uh, no.... mechanics can't just turn it off. You're going to need to get some kind of device to do it. Something like S-VCM, which is what I've been using.

It is a misleading marketing trick by Honda. VCM-VTEC totally lacks any performance boost. The 8th gen VCM-V6 uses a single cam profile for all rpm, not a dual cam profile to maximize both low-end and high-end power like in the 6-6 or I4. As Aviatard implied, there is no "VTEC shift" or “crossover rpm” for added power.
