May 1, 2017 · Ruger American Pro Compact 9 slide and take down lever stuck. Just pulled brand new gun out of box to disassemble, clean, and lube. Pulled slide to rear and locked in open position. Rotated the take down lever until it stopped. Pulled the slide rearward to drop slide stop and allowed it to move slowly forward. Rugged construction with blued, through-hardened alloy steel slide and barrel and high-performance, glass-filled nylon grip frame. Precision machined, hard coated aluminum chassis with full-length guide rails. The Secure Action used in the LCP II and Security-9 is derived from the reliable and proven hammer-fired LCP fire control system.Problems with Max 9. Today was the second time I was able to take my new Max 9 out to the range. The first time I did, the slide wasn't able to return to battery via slingshoting it. Also, just after firing a box of range rounds, the plastic takedown gate completely broke off causing the slide to get stuck back after almost every shot.Possibly call local gun smith. Hold slide. Slam palm onto grip. Repeat. it could be the round stuck that's preventing the slide from moving. If you can press on the extractor (releasing case) while pulling the slide back, you may get it to move. Then it'll be easy to stick a dowel down the barrel and pound it out.

Evidently, there is definitely something amiss with the guide rod assembly. As I mentioned above, try to manipulate the guiderod assembly with a dental pick or similiar object while "shaking" the pistol. Put the safety in the off-safe position. If possible, try to move the slide back and forth as you do this.

It seems I'm having this issue every time I strip the gun. It seems like the recoil spring pops out of the spot it sits on the barrel when I push the slide back to put the takedown pin back in.
