I've been playing with a halberd for a while now and I use the Tsar halberd over the Dreamer halberd. The higher impact damage and the addition of varnishes/infusions far outweighs the regular split damage type. If you're fighting someone weak to fire, use a fire varnish, if you're fighting someone weak to ice, use an ice varnish.
