Basically it adds a variety of different events compared to what the default behavior is, and if you have the scheduling forever it will continue to have events far into the play through. IIRC the ‘News’ event is the closest to vanilla.

I suggest getting 'Expanded Helicopter Events'. The vanilla Helicopter is super annoying to me personally. Don't see why the helicopter should be super focused only on the player trying to get them killed for no reason. With the mod helis show up every now and then and do their thing.
