Ice conditions have improved greatly on all area lakes these last few days. Ice roads continue to pop up and expand on many area lakes. Lakes with ice roads are reporting 12 to 14 inches of clear, solid ice. It was awesome seeing everyone on the ice this weekend, thank you we really enjoyed getting things rolling out on the ice!! Fishing has been kind of all over the board.Again we stress safety and want everyone to have a safe memorable fishing experience. So we will be limiting our traffic for the weekend. We hope to see everyone again this season and hope that we have some cooler temps move into the area so that we can finish the season on a good note.
Reports coming from Traders Bay, Stoney Point and the Whipholt area are reporting a bit better ice conditions in the 12-15 inch range. Walker Bay ice reports still range from 6-11 inches so only atv and side by side traffic is advised at this time. As for the bite, best reports came from dead sticks in 13-15 ft of water in the Grand Vu flats area.Jan 11, 2024 · Early this week, ice conditions were still sketchy and there were significant cracks on parts of the main lake and in Walker Bay. Some areas have as much as 10 to 12 inches of ice and some resorts are starting to place a few fish houses in those areas, so continue to work through them. Leech Lake. Between 8 and 11 inches of snow fell last week and that caused slush to develop throughout the lake.
