If I would have had to pay for replacing it, if I recall, that bill was $1,300+.Sounds ike you have a fuse in diagnostic position in fuse panel. This fuse needs to be removed for normal operation. I have checked the wiring from the sensor to the instrument panel plug and replaced the tach sensor. Got good continuity from the sensor to the instrument panel plug. I installed my instrument panel in my friends 6300 and the tach worked.
