I've been in this area for quite a while, and there is nothing even vaguely comparable to what you will find on the East side of the state, Idaho, Montana, etc, etc. Some activity in lakes, but rivers with good populations of trout are unfortunately somewhat hard to come by. The Orvis Recon I own now sells for $150 more than I originally paid for it 2 years ago. Been looking at the the Moonshine Drifter II 9' 5 weight. $229 gets you a nice looking rod, extra tip, case and no fault lifetime warranty. In addition the rod weighs 2.8 ounces which is the same weight as the Sage Sonic that cost $650.Powerflex is nylon monofilament that is strong and limp so it is made/designed to be used to replace/rebuild leaders tippet sections of leaders as they get shorter from changing flies. They are sized by thickness = "X" sizes where the "X" represents the thickness of the material. For example, 5X = .006".Waters get low and/or too warm to fish in some rivers (e.g. St. Joe) by early August. Best times in northern Idaho are either mid or late July, or September into first week or two of October. The September-October season is my favorite, especially on the larger streams. During the earlier period (July) my favorites are the small tributaries.
