I do have a RR also, never experienced your specific issue but it's common to have to also 'fiddle' with the cylinder to get everything to line up. FWIW: this is also the case with my Ruger Single six and blackhawk revolvers, as there is wiggle room in the cylinder but precision in getting that cylinder rod to line up just right. I would check alignment between the cylinder and the barrel before firing. Pull the hammer to position 2, and spin the cylinder through at least 3 times to ensure it is unloaded, pull the hammer all the way back, and look down the barrel. If alignment is good, you shouldn't have any issues firing the gun. 2.
