Also, very important, tallow is, by default, used in cooking. You need to go to labor and disable it's use. But the trick is, it will not appear until you have made some tallow.

Another one is when creatures get stuck in trees and they can't get down. Excess items cause slowdown. Make sure you aren't inadvertently making items forever.

Re: lye-containing vs. lye-bearing. I just tested this, the work order doesn't count lye in buckets, only in barrels. Two units of lye stored in two separate buckets count as 0 units of lye. Two units of lye stored in a barrel counts as two units. So you have to have it stored in barrels in order to limit production. Yeah, I honestly prefer it to both the previous game's system (obviously) and Dwarf Therapist. Additionally, if you (not you lol, but those struggling with the new system) are really worried about some unskilled dorf using up all your resources, I'd recommend assigning a singular skilled dwarf to a given workshop and putting your high-quality requests into that one alone. A word of warning: When collecting clay the dwarf or dwarves collecting it will be covered in clay. If you don't have a place for them to clean up there will be tons of clay everywhere.
