Jan 3, 2024 · My student is planning to go toward physical therapy (DPT) and Pitt is well known on it. He also admitted to Stony Brook with merits and the COA will be similar to in state tuition. Stony Brook is also known to have great medical resources and closer to home (5.5hr to Pitt vs 2.5hr to SB). That’s why we now have second thought on Pitt even we do like Pittsburgh. Pitt doesn't yield protect. Above a certain threshold, just about everyone will get in. Yes, there may be uncertainty for an applicant who is around the threshold, but those who are above are accepted. Pitt isn't getting the bulk of 4.0UW/1600 applicants who apply, but it is accepting them. What they aren't doing is offering merit to those who have a low probability of matriculating ...
Dec 23, 2023 · @me29034 is correct. Pitt’s housing used to be first come, first served, but several years ago (maybe post-Covid), it changed. There is no housing benefit to committing early or paying a housing deposit now. Take your time, wait for other decisions, and then decide.

This incredibly high stat kid, like yours, was waitlisted at Harvard and Columbia (Harvard until June) It was painful. We learned many lessons from the first kid. S19 ended up accepting his generous merit to Pitt. Pitt loved him back and he ended up with 4 incredible years and an MCAT score in the top 1%.

Pitt doesn't even offer much to stellar in-state students anymore. (post-Covid) Pitt still attracts plenty of full-pay international, full-pay OOS, and full-pay in-state students.
