I have only taken the train to the top once and lucked out all the way up and down. I took about 140 pics with 50-55 being keepers. I have hiked up 11 times and driven up three.

The cog railway is a fantastic trip up to the summit of Pikes Peak. Beautiful scenery! Hopefully the tracks will be clear so you can do it. Luckily the tracks were clear of snow, and we made it up to the top. Unfortunately, there was 8 feet of snow on the ground, and the crew had to shovel their way into the gift shop.

My advice is to go down Manitou Ave. until you find the funny sounding Smischny Lot at $10 for six hrs. The other lots are very expensive.
