I believe after wiping out the Dessanu their planets crumble into runied nanite worlds which has a chance to let you harvest nanites. They're also terraforming candidates and if you terraform them and colonize them the nanites are lost. I think it was around 10 planets when I did it, the planets provided more value than the nanites.
