Each gas station has enough gas to (reportedly) last for about 50 in-game years. And there are a lot of gas stations. They power down when the power grid goes down, but that's solved by keeping a generator hooked up at the station you're using (turn it off when you leave tho). Don't worry about it.

There’s this gas station in valley station. A little south from the Louisville checkpoint. It’s 2 2-story buildings, one is a very big convenience store and the other sells bourbon. Both stores’ second floors are living space. It’s partially surrounded by a large fence and next to a trailer park.
