I play with easy sandbox settings and have been slightly making things harder every run to try to get better and challenge myself. However - it makes NO sense to me that a zombie can thump his rotting head and hands into metal fucking bars that I welded to the window frame and break them down. No number of zombies should be able to break that.

metal sheets and metal bars have the same hp at 5000 when wooden barricades have 1000 hp per plank. personally, i use wooden barricades since they're easier to get and looks a lot nicer. you can also use 2 wooden planks or metal bars to be able to see through the window while still having it protected. For the record, every item that says "box of X" needs to be opened via its context menu before you can actually use it. Nails, screws, paperclips, ammo, all those.
