The current style allows the 8300 wad guides to slide right into the rod. The old version you had to unsrew a cap and take out the orange wad guide fingers and put the new one in screwing the cap back on to lock in the wad guide. For use on the following presses ONLY. The 12 gauge is changed between 1 1/8 ounce 3 dram loads for handicap trap and 1 ounce 2 3/4 dram loads for 16 yard trap and skeet by changing the charge bar and bushings and wad used.

Since I replaced that bar with a Universal Charge Bar, I've since reamed the holes larger on the fixed bar, then drilled and tapped holes from the bar ends. Note any "nailhead" or slight bulge at the top of the shell, where crimp begins. You want to at least adjust the finish die down to take off any bulge or nailhead. You might even use your calipers to ...JMHO but I would not lump the adjustable charge bar and the Spindex kit together as "upgrades." The Spindex is designed and produced by Mec. I can't conceive of anyone that had the newer design wishing to go back to the old. The adjustable charge bar is a device made by another company that was designed by another company to fit a mec.
