The biggest difference was running them suppressed. The Shovelnose flipped to the suppressed setting runs so smoothly and the ejection pattern is essentially unchanged. The Specwar runs around 1-2 o'clock with an H1 and around 3 o'clock with an H2. It also has noticeably more gas in the face, at least for a lefty (cross-dominant) shooter like me. The piston is nice because it has a suppressed setting, but other than that, 5.56 recoil is really mild, even in an "overgassed" rifle. Both my 12.5” specwar and 12” shovelnose run great. Just use hot ammo hold ur breath. Piston feels the same for all ammo and the DI varies between loads. The piston requires a heavier buffer for me.
