The first Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro unit I picked up new at the store had an issue with the right arrow key button. The hinge underneath the button was literally bent, and it wasn't able to be pushed in. I brought the unit back and swapped it for a new one. The new one (that I currently own) is heavily making those cracking sounds as mentioned by OP.

Solution to the problem below; please read the whole thing. The part that's misaligned is the hinge cap, not the hinge itself. Unless you hear a noise whenever the hinge moves, this is cosmetic. No noise = misaligned hinge cap not hitting anything. Lenovo warranty is a gamble because they will change the part but not really solve the issue.
