1999 Dodge Cummins - No wait to start light. Replaced the intake heater. Intake heater solenoids. Would work for for a day and stop. Changed the temperature sensor and nothing. Disconnected the solenoid wire from the battery and reconnected it. Worked for 3 days then stopped when I replaced the battery terminals. The “wait to start” light comes on ever time during pre-start, but grid heaters never engage. It’s never worked since I bought the MH in 2013. I’ve used block heater to preheat engine prior to starting. Van Willams had this problem in 2015 and he checked all connections in engine room area which ended up resolving the problem.The serial # is ALY01931. I deleted mine and two days later, I had a Check engine light. It was for the air intake heater, so I erased the code, installed a load resistor and yet have the CEL come back on.

The heater relay is located on the driver side of the engine on top of the intake manifold. If is does not than it most likely is the Glow Plug / Intake Air Heater Relay, as it should not be needed above 50deg. Jim.

Thanks, 60vette. Purpose is to warm air going from the intake manifold into the engine during starting. It is on when the "Wait To Start" light on your dash is on. Cummins uses it instead of glow plugs. The colder the ambient temperature, the less willing your engine will be to start.
